A self portrait of Louise showing the left side of their head at profile, cropped to only show their ear, their wet, dark brunette hair, and a part of their neck and jaw. They are wearing three silver hoop earrings and a silver chain necklace.

Louise Boruque is a Chicago-based artist exploring themes of gender, queerness and sexuality against a sexually reproachful and capitalist culture.

Growing up in a community that cast a sinful lens over sex and homosexuality, Therese reflects on the beliefs from this upbringing in their identity as a queer, non-binary artist. Through photography, sculpture and animation, they address the evolution of their own beliefs entwined with the irony of late-stage capitalism and standards set by a patriarchal society.

Therese graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a degree in marketing which informs their stylistic and thematic choices. They spent a semester at L’Esä - Tourcoing studying analog and digital photography and graphic design.
